EMBROIDERY
There are two areas in which embroidery can be explored:
Creative embroidery, where a teacher or an artist may be invited from the U.K or elsewhere to give a workshop.
Exploring the different embroidery techniques of the Miao people of Guizhou, in S.W. China, where a teacher may be invited to come to Chiangmai to give a demonstration and to help students with practical work.
Over the years, I have acquired a collection of Miao textiles (some of which have been exhibited in the UK), which will serve as study pieces and for reference.
Having led groups of textile enthusiasts and others to Guizhou in SW. China, I have gained extensive knowledge of the textiles of the Miao, the Miao people themselves and their traditions. |
